11th Street Bridge

The 11th Street Bridge Park competition entry, done in collaboration with Stoss LU, proposes a new multi-pathway pedestrian bridge to be built using the existing bridge piers. The new bridge proposal, titled The Crossing, will create a new connection between two neighborhoods, Anacostia on the south and east, and Washington DC proper on the north and west. The bridge stitches together the two sides of the river, creating spaces for gathering and recreating in series of spaces along its length. An orchard and amphitheater on the south bank, an environmental education center, an open air cafe, and rock climbing and mural walls along its length. The design team includes Silman Associates, Marshall Moya Design, and Derrick Landro Woody LLC.
