Senior Architect
Höweler + Yoon is a Boston-based architectural design firm of 20+ employees committed to transformational impact in the built environment and design excellence across multiple scales. Founded and led by Partners Eric Höweler and J. Meejin Yoon, the studio has built a reputation for work that is research-driven, socially engaged, and formally innovative. We are looking for a talented, motivated, and responsible Senior Architect(s) with 10+ years of experience for our office in Boston, MA.
Qualifications:
Professional degree (B.Arch or M.Arch) and 10+ years of qualified experience
Experience as a project manager in leading small- to large-scale buildings working on all phases of a single project
Strong organizational skills, ability to manage deadlines, and ability to be flexible
Excellent communication, collaboration, and management skills with clients, consultants, H+Y leadership, and the design team
Significant experience with the later phases including construction documentation and administration
Proficiency with Revit, Rhino, Adobe Suite and AutoCAD
Strong work ethic, being proactive, flexible, and self motivation is essential
A willingness to train and mentor team members as well as engage in professional development for the office as a whole
Excellent design and graphic skills, with the ability to participate in the conceptualization and design of complex projects from pre-design through construction documents phases
Responsibilities:
Participate in the leadership at H+Y: leading project teams, contributing to H+Y leadership conversations and strategic planning, mentoring younger staff.
Responsible for components of project development in the following phases: Programming, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration
Ensure HYA’s project standards, professionalism and creativity are carried out for all work
Develop and present designs with understanding of building systems, sustainability requirements, accessibility and code compliance for solutions that are unique and engaging while tailored to both HYA and client’s vision and project requirements
Manage project schedules, deliverables, staff, consultants and extended project teams
Communicate and serve as a liaison with clients, contractors and consultants. Ensure projects meet expectations of quality, time and cost and promote the firm’s integrity and industry reputation.
Prepare and lead design presentation meetings and attend town hearings for regulatory approvals
Prepare construction documents, bidding documents, and permit documents, and maintain quality control of such tasks
Perform code review and work with various governing agencies for code compliance
Demonstrate understanding of construction materials and details and serve as a technical resource for the H+Y team
Participate in business development activities, including interview presentations and concept development for potential projects
