"The Coolidge" is a beloved neighborhood theater for independent film lovers, and one of Boston's few remaining art deco movie theaters. The Coolidge is planning a 14,000 square foot expansion to add two additional theaters, a community space, and a new lobby. These components will synthesize with the existing lobby and building to create a simple flow between the two.
The new theater addition will extend the venue with a contemporary structure that translates the original art deco vocabulary into a contemporary architectural expression in order to produce a new, very Coolidge, synthetic whole.
